Eileen Maxson
Eileen Maxson is a multidisciplinary artist working through the viewfinder of personal and family experiences with humor and pathos to track the influence of media, consumer culture, and misleading narratives entangled with the American Dream. Maxson’s Pedantic research supported a new video project capturing her parents’ effort to convince Maxson to inherit their “stuff,” including their collection of fine china and crystal made by Lenox. Maxon studied Lenox Crystal’s company archives at the Heinz History Center and participated in a glassblowing intensive at Pittsburgh Glass Center. She also visited the site of Lenox’s former plant in Mt. Pleasant with her cousin, who worked there for thirty-plus years before Lenox moved production overseas.
